Quivers. On or off or other?

Post by VTbowman »

With my compound I never liked my bow mounted quiver on while shooting. Especially hunting.
Always had to hang it on a hook n hope I could reach it for a second shot. Ive lost those 2nd shots due to that.
I just hated the balance a full quiver gave my bow. Never could get use to it.
Is this the same for xbows?
So what do you folks do? Suggestion away please.
Thanks!

Munch mount puts quiver on top and makes bow much nicer to sling and shoot. I take mine off once on stand to eliminate any additional noise etc.

Off and in my back pack..
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

I leave the quiver on when walking in but it comes off as soon as I get set up in the stand, and I stick it in my pack so my arrows are within quick and easy reach should I need a 2nd one.

I am not familiar with munch mount. I thought maybe a hip quiver but its not any better while on stand.

I've always used (I did try bow mounted and didn't like them) a leather hip quiver made for broadheads (from my longbow days). I shoot 18" arrows (Phoenix model crossbow) and am not sure how short of an arrow would work in it, though.

Off in the stand - ditto for the sling - don't want anything that can "hang up" because Bambi "never" comes in from the direction you are planning :)

i tied some 550 para cord and made a sling to my quiver. my next idea is to mount a metal threaded gun stock sling stud to top and bottom and use a light weight gun sling to carry and hang when i get to my stand.

It's funny, I was about to post the same question. I loved the idea of quiver on bow until I tried to use it in a hunting situation. It made the use of a sling awkward. It also made the use of a shooting rail awkward. I plan to zip tie my quiver to the outside of my pack. This has worked well with my vertical bow set up in the past.
