Ramcat 125 grain crossbow broadhead

Post by ko4nrbs »

I've read the Ramcat broadheads are pretty big and may not clear on all crossbows. Does anyone know if they will clear the stirrup, etc. on the Exomax?

They cleared on all of my matrix micro bows .....unless you have the srirrup wrapped . There a great flying head ive tried them .l gave guff in the past about being made in china only to find out my beloved spitfire may be too. ...so use em with pride.

I've been shooting them for over 3 years ,, actually I am using the 100gr. head with the 125 replacement blades for a 104gr. head. multiple deer, big holes and short trails :) and no issues with the stirrup but mine is not wrapped as I don't worry about the noise because when I hear it they are already doing that wobbly dance thing..

Ramcats are an awesome head that makes a nasty big hole in the animal... I switched two years ago to them and have not had a deer go over 70 yards to date after being tagged with a Ramcat....

However: as others have said, if the foot stirrup is wrapped, clearance can be a problem.. All three of my Excalibur's have their stirrups wrapped.. What I do is cut a notch out of the wrap where the blade could hit, basically leaving that spot on the stirrup unwrapped and then clearance is not a problem at all.

My process is to fully wrap my stirrups with baseball handle wrap ( Lizard Skins ) and then cut out the area of the wrap once it is on the stirrup.

Yep, you'll clear by 1/8" if one blade is straight down. I'm assuming you are using 1.5" diameter cut! I bought some of these, and that was the first thing i checked. If your arrows fly good from any vane index, align one blade close to the up position, and go hunt!

What kind of arrows are you shooting? I shhot RamCat 125s from my Micro and they clear, but it's tight. I am using Zombie Slayer arrows. If you use a narrower arrow clearance may get dicey. But as Dan said, index your blades so 1 is straight up and that will give you max clearance.
