Quiver rattles

Post by BrotherRon »

I generally remove my quiver once I am in my stand and hang it on a hook.
There are two reasons for this - one is it makes my crossbow lighter to hold, and two is because my quiver rattles every time I shoot. Is it a common problem with these quivers that the inside comes loose and vibrates? Both my 310 and 33o are this way. If I apply silicone around the inside edge will it stop the rattling?

Thanks.
Ron.

My wife got a "factory reconditioned" Axiom this year - her first bow. The quiver hood was a little loose and rattled. I replaced it with a Kwickee Kwiver 4-arrow crossbow quiver. It's a very solid, well made unit. No surprise, though. I've been a fan of kwickee quivers for 35 years.

Ron, if you tighten your quiver you'll notice there is still movement. A couple things I've done to mine are to cut a thin strip of moleskin and stick it to the edge of the quiver where it slides into the receiver. You could also run a bead of silicone along the edge and let it cure. That'll reduce the rattle greatly. The other thing I did was to screw the hold down screw tight so I could see where it was touching the receiver. I then drilled and tapped the receiver so I could actually screw the quiver into it and tighten it down. This mod also eliminated the quiver rattling loose and falling off.

....I have had the same issue....ThackMan changed over his Exclalibur quiver for a Kwickee Kwiver set up which holds three arra's...I did the same...benefit:

1. lighter on the CB (I don't even remove it),

2. no noise or rattling,

3. positive locking system and arra's fit snugly in the quiver...

My attitude is, "If I need more than 3 arra's to get the job done, that deer deserves to live AND it's time for me to go home!"

I noticed that my quiver was making more noise than usual and tightened down the 2 bolts (with acorn nuts) that hold the quiver mount to the quiver bracket again (3rd time this year) and that helped reduced the noise. Unfortunately I removed my quiver last time I was at my stand and went to check my mock scrapes with the crossbow slung over my shoulder and as I was going threw the brush I could hear my crossbow rattling so I pulled it off my shoulder and saw that the quiver mounting bracket was hanging loose by only one bolt the other was missing entirely. I was somewhat shocked as those bolts were just tightened. I have not been using loctite on those bolts (I don't know why). If those bolts are coming loose on other crossbows Could that account for some of the noise other folks are experiencing?

I carried my quiver out and removed the remaining bolt and acorn nut until I got home and put it all back together again, with a temporary nut and bolt to replace the lost one. Once season is over I plan to call Excal and hopefully get a new set of bolts and nuts sent. (praying they are not too expensive).

Who would be the best person to talk to here in Ontario and what number Should I call?

THANKS for the help!

Mark

Be pretty cheap to go to HD or Lowes and match the nut and bolt up.
