Excalibur 350 SE
My first post so I'd like to say hello to everyone!
I just bought a new Excalibur 350 SE with the Dead Zone scope. I have been an avid whitetail bowhunter for 30 years but decided to give crossbows a try . I planned to get one the spring of 2017 but found a good deal and went ahead and "pulled the trigger"! I seriously considered the Tenpoint Turbo GT and the Tenpoint Titan but I love the look, feel, and simplicity that the Excalibur line has to offer. It also appears that Excalibur has an excellent warranty and customer service should the need arise.
I have a few additions I'm already planning to start acquiring. I have removed the standard scope mount and will be ordering the Guardian ADF mount. I was concerned about the mounting screws but I used a Torx bit and they came right out.
Next, I plan to add the REDS system or the Buggy Bumpers. Also on my list are a couple spare strings, a stringing jig and some additional arrows.
Looking for suggestions on what brand of strings and arrows? In addition, what rail lube and string wax would y'all recommend?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning about these crossbows!

Welcome
I'm sure others will chime in but... I like the baby buggy bumpers, and a flemish string. There are lots of forum members who can build you a quality string (8ptbuk, Boo, vixion, etc). Just look in the trading post and talk to one of them.
No rail lube is needed. I use Bohning Tex-Tite Bow String Wax for the serving (very very little. Every 100-200 shots), and Bohning Seal-Tite Bow String Wax on my string based on the recommendation of my string maker.
I shoot 18" Zombie Slayer arrows w/ 110 grain brass insert, lumenock, and Blazers.
Anyone else?

Re: Excalibur 350 SE
Stick with the stock string until you're sure you aren't happy with it. The vast majority are completely happy with the stock string. You can get an extra one from Danny Miller (740 483 2312) who makes them for Excalibur. Shoot it until it stops creeping, clip the ends together and your good to go.
While your on the phone with Danny, get yourself some Black Eagle Arrows from him as well.

Re: Excalibur 350 SE
Welcome!!! Great choice of bow!! might want the string changer too. Love black eagles zombieslayers. I personally prefer Dalton wax for my string. Works great. You will have a great time with it!!
355 matrix, big johns arrows- zombieslayers, g5 montecs, strikers. Vortex big johns arrows- zombieslayers g5 montecs 125. Lumenoks.
Re: Excalibur 350 SE
Very good advice given here. Get the baby bumpers and ADF from Danny and he has a pretty good price on the Zombie Slayers too. A string changer is a MUST if you do not have one. I also like Danny's top mounted quiver mount. He has it priced right too.
I hope you like your 350 as well as I do mine.

Re: Excalibur 350 SE
Thanks for the welcome and all the suggestions.
I'm certainly getting the Bumpers, ADF, arrows and stringer. I also like the looks of the top mounted quiver.
I may eventually upgrade the scope. I will test it at lower light levels and see how it does before I make the swap.

I forgot to mention that I really like a Munch Mount for top mounting a quiver.

Re: Excalibur 350 SE
I came real close to buying a turbo gt and also ended up with a 350. Great bow, great price. I'm shooting 17" zombies with a 110gr. insert and a 100gr. broadhead (rage hypodermic at the moment). I put some buggy bumpers,a Flemish string and some Dr. Stirrup DB Killers on it. Couldn't ask for a nicer shooter.
Re: Excalibur 350 SE
I had to swap my Munch mount over to my M330 cause it blocked the sight on the rangefinder I have on the 350. I can use it with Dons mount as long as I remove the quiver while hunting as it only has one post sticking up.ThackMan wrote:I forgot to mention that I really like a Munch Mount for top mounting a quiver.

Re: Excalibur 350 SE
Love my 350. Equipped it with ADF,Millers baby bumpers. Used stock string for a while then with all info on forum on custom strings and arrows currently shoot Flemish from Vixenmaster (great strings serving lasts way longer than stock). In addition to stock arrows got me some Zombie Slayers 18 in 50 gr inserts and 150 gr slick tricks and boltcutters. Have fun with the Excalafliction. A new scope may be on the next wish list

A better scope will probably be added in the future. I will play around some and see how the low light performance is on the current scope. I know with optics you get what you pay for.Arrowflinger wrote:Love my 350. Equipped it with ADF,Millers baby bumpers. I'm wondering if I can use 100 grain Slick Tricks with a heavier insert up front? I have a few packs of Slick Tricks that I used with my compound bow. Would be nice to utilize them.
