Matrix grizzly trigger pull
I bought a new grizzly crossbow and think the trigger pull is extremely long. I contacted Excalibur previously and even sent a video to the tech but never heard a response from him if he thought so. It was right before hunting season started so I didn't send trigger in and tried to live with it but after wounding another deer, I am disgusted and don't even want to use it. I think I am going to order a TT trigger but that is quite a bit of extra money to do so. Are they that much better? I see there are a lot of people having the same issues with their triggers. Maybe Excalibur should look into it... just wondering what everyone else thinks.
Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
TT are nice , But as with any trigger if you don't put enough bolts down range your bound to mess up on a shot .. I hate to say and I don't mean to bash you or attack you, Maybe your rushing your shot or I heard of people anticipating a recoil with a crossbow just like a firearm .. I doubt you wounded a deer because of the trigger,,

Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
He stated wounding another deer so he has wounded at least two. I doubt seriously that the trigger is so bad that it would cause him to wound a deer. Sounds to me more like he needs to learn where to shoot a deer and practice.

My Grizzly was like that when I got it. Really long pull and you never knew when it was going to fire. Took the trigger out and sprayed some ballistol in it, not much, and worked it a few times, blew it out with compressed air, worked it some more to ensure the lube worked. Reinstalled the trigger and fired a few shots. Worked great, now the trigger is very predictable and not as long. In the meantime I did get a TT trigger which works even better.
Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
My trigger isn't that bad. I've shot rifles with worse triggers.

Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
The trigger on my 310 was the same way when I purchased it, and also felt a little gritty. I was told that it would probably get better after shooting it for a while. After shooting it for over a year it didn't feel gritty anymore but the creep was still terrible. I wounded one last year that I couldn't find for a couple days after it moved while I was squeezing my trigger. By the time I found it the coyotes had already devoured it so I hunted with the 330 the remainder of the season. I finally bought a TT trigger after selling my 330 and am very pleased with it. After installing the TT I filled out a RMA and sent my trigger in to be worked on so I now have an untried back-up trigger in case of an emergency. Had I known that the turn around from Woody's was going to be less than a week I would have sent my trigger in for work during the off season, but I enjoy shooting every weekend and didn't want to be without my crossbow.

Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
No worries...Most likely I am rushing shot but it's most definitely due to trigger pull. Was trying to down load video of it but it won't let me. More than likely I'm jerking trigger. I got the opportunity last night to shoot buddy's Excalibur and the trigger pull is night and day difference. He then shot mine and couldn't believe how bad it was. I'm use to shooting guns and grew up hunting groundhogs on farms in PA so I learned early about squeezing trigger and flinching.rein1 wrote:TT are nice , But as with any trigger if you don't put enough bolts down range your bound to mess up on a shot .. Pretty dumb comment since you know nothing about me...robertyb wrote:He stated wounding another deer so he has wounded at least two. I doubt seriously that the trigger is so bad that it would cause him to wound a deer. Sounds to me more like he needs to learn where to shoot a deer and practice.

I've wounded 1 deer in 30 years bowhunting up until this year and that was when I was about 14. The multiple deer I have on the wall will blow your theory out of the water so....

Exactly!! Never thought I couldn't handle it so that's why I tried to live with it. I will get a TT trigger and deal with this one later. I only get limited time to hunt these days so need a remedy kinda quick. Thanks for input!Jim22 wrote:My Grizzly was like that when I got it. Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
Know the feeling...shot buddy's Excalibur and it was night and day. Kinda hard to believe that they are not tested before shipping out. Should not have to pull trigger out of brand new crossbow to fix it but I will get it taken care of. Thanks!BrotherRon wrote:The trigger on my 310 was the same way when I purchased it, and also felt a little gritty. I was told that it would probably get better after shooting it for a while. Re: Matrix grizzly trigger pull
I'm sure not all are but I have read quite a few are. I wish I could get video to upload but It wouldn't let me. My trigger pull is like 3 times longer than my buddy's Excalibur. Just shot his last night. I will get it fixed though one way or another.ThackMan wrote:My trigger isn't that bad. I've shot rifles with worse triggers.
