Can't make them fit..

Post by Magoo1973 »

Hi guys!

I just got my replacement-limbs and found some attached new screws and spacers, but when I try to install them as the instructions I can't get it to fit together properly.. there is a gap between the limb and a part that did'nt use to bee there, see image!

I think it is the "new Norm" with the Excalibur bows as they upgrade the hardware..

My 350 SE came that way from Excalibur...

Matrix 380 Blackout with Vortex Viper XBR,

It must be the micro you've got. That's been done intentionally by Excalibur's engineering team. Doesn't make any sense to me, then again, I'm not an engineer.

Hi

Nope it's a 380 blackout, just got an answer from excal and it's supposed to be like that! They said "we found this will help the life of the limbs.."

Guess I'll go with that then!!

It's there Mike, instead of holding the limb down, it acts like a buffer. If you zoom in, you can see the rubber spacer glued to the underside of the recoil bracket.

I recently ordered a new riser and spare limbs and did not receive any hardware :(
I ended up calling Danny Miller and have installed the old style ones on mine now.

Odd, why would my 350 not have this gap at all? In this case are air brakes a must have? I dont hear about any 355 matrix limbs having issues. I have only shot it maybe 10 times so far...it was an impulse buy while i was hunting with already dialed in mag tip limb bows

called last week and left a message. waiting on a reply from Excalibur as to the space being the normal set up going forward and for which models.if theyve done resesarch as to having the space and prelonging limb life and splinter issues im switching all of my Excals over to this set up. other than early issues with the Micro and Mega 405 my limbs have been fine. my Gen 1 Micro has been smooth sailing but if by having the space helps a bit im switching over. i do think its possible to have those limb recoil plates too tight and causing grief so i leave mine barely snug.

The space is how Excalibur wants all the current bows. If you get new limbs, you get new hardware and you end up with the space between the recoil brackets and the limbs. I'm going to hazard a guess that they'd be happy to send you the hardware with or without a limb repair.

Boo if you had to pick a setup for your bow would you prefer the newer hardware with the space in the limb strap or the airbrake setup? I have a 350LE with airbrakes but I want whatever is best for my bow.
