I had a not so good experience with a multi-reticle red dot scope on my crossbow a couple weeks back. A nice 8-point about 25 yards and just shortly before legal light shooting ended. Scope view washed out so I could not see exactly where the dot was on his chest. I let him go because of that. Can't say I wasn't disappointed but it was the right thing to do. Anyway, here's my issue I guess. I saw on this forum an old post about an adapted peep/pin sight which I became interested in but have not been able to get any more information on it, where to contact whoever it is that made them, etc. Now, truth be told, I do not own an excalibur crossbow as there were no retailers at the time anywhere near me. I wound up with a Ten Point Wicked Ridge Invader that seems okay for now (and it was cheap). Seems to shoot just fine but hate this sight. Can anyone suggest how to get a hold of this person or recommend an alternate which is similar?

The thread you are referring to was from a forum member who made changes to excaliburs peep sights. The front mounts onto a dove-tail if memory serves me. If you feel you can adapt this into your bow then you may want to contact Excalibur to see if you can purchase one. Or make a wanted ad in the trading post. Those sights used to come with every Excalibur sold b4 the matrix came to be.

I'm not sure a peep sight is going to solve your problem. They are not known to be very good in low light conditions. What you need if low power scope with big objective lens, preferably a 30mm tube - all of those aid in light gathering. Of course the higher the quality the better in low light. I have a 1.5 to 6 Swarovski that pretty much works in the dark. The Hawke XB Pro has a 30mm tube and lighted reticles and is good value for the $$$ it's no Swarovski but at $1,500.00 cheaper it's good.

I am pleased with low light performance of VXIIIs, VXRs and the Vortex Viper Crossbow scope

The Vortex scope is a fantastic deal.
