TactZone Scope Issue

Post by oldmuleskinner »

I have a TactZone scope on my Matrix 380. Compared to any of my rifle scopes, this one is very blurry. It won't come into clear focus at close ranges, or long distance. I have high end, mid-range and some lower end scopes that are made in China. All of them are much, much more clear.

Is this a common problem with the TactZone scope, or do I have a lemon?

....very common problem that is mentioned on the forum...although Excalibur claims only a small percentage of owners experience issues....in fact there are owners who love the scope....NOT I :( ...

....I have switched out to the Leupold Crossbones and have never looked back....comes to think of it, I have never heard of anyone who has had issues with a Leupold product!

....I am sure you are going to get a bunch of responses as to who uses what and why...including those who love the TactZone....

....with that said...you can contact Excalibur and they will replace it for you....NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

did you adjust the rear eye focus/? i aim it at a wall at 10-20ft away and adjust just the crosshair til its as clear and fat lined as it can be. find the best general focus quickly then to micro tune 3 half turns to the right and then to the left to narrow down what your eye likes.

X-2 I have found that a lot of folks do not set the focus correctly. My old Tact Zone scope was crystal clear once properly set. But...it fogged up real bad one day and never cleared back up so it got swapped in with Danny M. for a Crossbones scope.

FWIW, I returned a Tactzone with the same problem. If the crossshairs were clear, the entire field of view was blurry. If you cleared up the field of view, the crosshairs were hopelessly blurry.

The scope I received was much clearer, but won't hold a zero. It will go back as well. I put a Hawke SR on my Micro, and might just get another one for my 330. The Nikon Bolt on it now works great, but I do like the lighted reticle in the Hawke.

So far my TactZone is bright works great. I took 4 deer within last two years. From 20 years to 41 years tree stand hunting. This year I have replaced a battery. I like simplicity of this scope.
Sorry to hear your problems.
Talk to Excalibur they might replace it for you.
