W.W. you may not believe this one, but I took the Vari Zone off my 185lb Emag set it on the Max, turned up the speed dail to 350 and that baby was right on the mark! Which means I have too resight as it is only shooting 328fps

Disregard the previous post on max speed, it's shootin faster then the 328fps I reported using a 425gr bolt. I had the chrony too close. I have to resight in and will upgrade the results over the week end.

328 sounds reasonable.
My exocet looses about 1 fps for a 3.5 grain arrow weight increase. Using that formula with an advertised speed of 350 fps with 350 grains you're 76 grains heavy. 76/3.5=21.7 and 350-22=328, right on the chart

wabi I had my crony too close I moved it out to 5yrds and picked up fps, dup shots for 3 and 1 @ 2fps slower 1@ 2fps faster. Will test more tomorrow but less say w.w. was dang close. I will re-set the speed ring per the specs on sighting in then will crony at 5yrds and at 10 yards and see what we get... by 5 & 10yrds I mean that is how far out the crony will be sitting.

Wabi,

I've always heard that it is 5 to 6 grains per feet per second gained or lost.. i read it somewhere once upon a time...

OK sighted in today and retested my speed...WoodY Williams the speed stayed the same the crony did not lie.....328fps with a 425gr bolt. I set my crony at 10ft as the specs read and again at 15feet and get 328fps with a 425gr bolt. Set my speed dail at that range which is a close guess as it jumps from 325 too 350 on the dail...Sighted the ole cross hairs at 20yrds, right on....

What makes me a little mad is I lost 4 brass inserts to the 3-D target  Pulled out the bolt lost the tip and insert, 4 timesImage so I have to call Dan Miller and see if he has the brass inserts.

Shucks maybe I will go alum...2219....vanes....125 tip, see what that weighs as I want to stay with 425gr bolt.

wabi yer were right with your cal.

I do not understand how I got a couple of different readings yesterday when I moved out the crony further :? , other then poss. lighting conditions at the time. I have two cronys and used them both today and got the same readings 328fps...

Edited again: Well I just weighed a 2219 with alum inserts front & rear 4" feathers and get 341gr....Reckon I will stick with the carbon bolts as that will put me over my 425gr limit I want. OOOh well

Gary L.,
A 2216, 5" feather fletching, and a 125 grain point should be close to 425 grains. I'll weigh one up tonight and see. If you're interested I think I have a dozen new 2216 shafts I could fletch up for you.

2216, alum inserts ft & bk, 5" vanes, 125 tip = 420gr wabi...as close as I could get with the 2216's. Just might have to go with that untill I get some brass inserts and more Lazer goldtips.. Could also go with a longer 2216 and pick up the extra grains
