Rail Cleaning Question

Post by redmag »

How do you guys clean the rails on your Excals? On one forum a guy suggested WD-40, does anyone else use it?

I personally wouldn't use anything that leaves a residue behind because dirt, sand and other junk might stick to it. I have heard of guys using dri silicone spray on the rail for lubrication tho

I spray Jig-A-loo silicone spray on a rag and wipe it down. Removes wax buildup and leaves it slick.

I use a little WD-40 on a rag to wipe my rail clean. No Jig-a-loo around these parts anymore.

I use a military grade silicone oil to clean the rail, then wipe it dry with a clean towel.

I use silicon now for stand off distance. The Hogs would come in to lick the WD-40 off the rails and I ended up having to stab them, what a mess.

You know I thought same thing about smell but it goes away after 1 day ..We spray our boots with it and they said it goes away also..But you are right it stinks bad when i put it on...I may use your idea during hunting season and the silicone when shooting in yard...

I still smoke my clothes with can with leaves in never use the commercial scents ..Camps burn wood and deer are used to wood smell dad taught us that before they had scents he wood make fire at 6am and had us stand around it to get warm and smoke our clothes..

I miss him very much hunting is not same without him and our original crew is gone I am last with my brother..
