Opinions on Matrix

Post by taz3 »

For those of you who own a Matrix, what would you say is the best all round? With choices from 305 to 400fps, I'm looking to find a decent draw weight, reliability and the most speed that will fit the bill so to speak. I'm leaning toward the 330 to 380, I'm leaning more to the 355, but would like to hear opinions all of them. I think the 400 are more draw weight then I want and I already own a Phoenix that is easily capable of 305fps, so I do t think I'd go lighter then a 330.

I'm average size 5'8" and in good health, so I'm insearch of a happy medium for me and the Xbow.

The M350 and M355 are the happiest medium the way I see it. Flip a coin

I own and shoot a Matrix 355. I suits my hunting purposes. I also own an Axiom and frankly it is more fun to shoot targets with. It is so much easier to draw for an afternoon of shooting targets.

The 330 or 355 will serve you well in my opinion. I love both of them.

The 330 and 355 are both excellent choices....
But if you intend to do a lot of target shooting I would suggest the 330.
The 355 can wear on you after a bit of cocking and shooting.

Nothing against the big boys but a few years ago the Exomax (350fps) and the Vortex (330fps) could shoot though anything up to a T-Rex. Both the 355 and 330 would serve you well . I have a 355 and it's more than enough . I see the 330 is about $70- $100 less than the 355
Again your choice but a few years ago no one would of said the Vortex wasn't fast enough. and $100 can buy a lot of extra things :D

The 330 will kill anything and you can cock it and shoot it all day. If you're just getting a killing machine, go for the 380.

If you go with the 355 and want the good stuff added it will cost you the same as the 380 . but you can go with a pre owned and save you self a ton of $$$$$.JMO. the 330 will be my choice .

I have a 330 and a 355 the 355 "feels" faster and badder when you shoot it but in reality l think its just a little louder. ....get the 330 n save some money 25 fps isnt going to make or break a difference. The 330 and 355 are reliable as could be that being the most important thing. I would buy the 330 at woodys or a dealer that sells only the bow and put the extra money saved on the 355 towards a better scope and that is more acuracy than 25 fps will get you. Jmo.

I agree. The revised limb mounting makes the cocking easier and the launch gentler. The 350SE/LE are consistently reported to slightly outperform the M355.

Some great points, for all 3 units and some I didn't give much thought. I'm glad I asked for the opinions, I may have to toss a coin more then once.

I agree with all the good points made. If you want the extras that don't come with all the bows, like the ADF and cheekpiece factor that into the cost. I'm 6' tall and the M380 would be my go to killing machine. That's me. You certainly won't go wrong with the 330 - 355. If you're okay with the heavier poundage the 380 may be the better deal. As mentioned, the trading post may help you decide.
