String alignment

Post by Highcountry »

I recently received a new head and limbs (warranty) from Peter he's great to deal with my question is the new head came with a string all I had to do was put on my reds. When I did I noticed that the string was off ie: one side was 1/2 inch off the reds and the other was 1/4 inch off. Will this affect the accuracy? Is this something some heads do? Is it safe to shoot? Has anyone else had this happen to their set up?

I would ask if the string stops are set correctly, then think about sending it back again if they are.

Mike, don't you think that should have been checked at the factory? Just asking the question.

Check your string stops, It sounds like one is not completely seated.

I hate to admit it, but the exact same thing happened to me. They were embarrassed after seeing pictures of my warranty replacement and let's just say I was very happy with how they remedied the situation. It's frustrating sometimes, but everybody screws up and such is life. If they'd have strung the bow, they'd have seen that the tiller is off. As mentioned, verify your string bumpers (REDS) are fully seated.

It is hard to tell from the picture but it looks to me like you have two different bumpers one for micro and one for a matrix. Check to see if they measure the same . just a thought .

The string is not square to the barrel. The REDS are both exactly 2 3/8 inches. When I measured from the center of the barrel out to the limb tip the right one was 14 3/4 inches and the left was 15 1/8 inches. Peter said they shot it to make sure it was 400 fps but with it being so far off I don't know it is safe to shoot? I also wonder if it will throw off the accuracy and or ruin the limbs being out of wack. I'm very surprised they couldn't see this before it was sent not sure what to think.

If that's what you measured you should call Peter in the morning and tell him what you have found.

I wonder if this is possibly due to C/S applying two limbs, with different limb deflection numbers, being installed as a "Pair" ? :?

Just a thought.

Well I'll keep you posted I emailed Peter he's good at getting back. I just wanted to see if anyone else ever had an issue like this. Racking up did but he said they took care of him. I'm just surprised because it was already a warranty issue seems crazy they wouldn't see something like this. Thank guys for your input I really appreciate it.
