125 grain ramcats

Post by kjl »

A couple of years ago I bought 2 packs of 125 gr ramcats on ebay from a usa hunting store. Alabama or pensylvania i cant remember. The arrows flew great and all broadheads weighed exactly or very close to 125 grains. Last fall I had a friend bring 3 packs up from Tennessee and they varied in weight from 126.2 grains to 128.5 grains. The packaging and broadheads look identical. Does anyone know if they changed something or could they be counterfeits?

It's not uncommon for broadheads to vary in weight, some do more than others. I have some FOCs that weigh in from 170-174gn. That's not to say you didn't buy a counterfeit head, it's possible but I'd say unlikely.

Klj How do they fly? Did you shoot them on your bolts? I just bought a Micro 335 sighted everything in. And made the bolts for the Ramcats 125 crossbow heads.
Just curious how they fly. I hear they are great

I shoot 125gr Ramcats on 16" arrows from my Micro 335. Arrow recipe is 16" Zombie Slayer with 110gr brass inserts and 2" Trueflight feathers put on with lots of helical. Blazers work fine too. They do fly great...best of any I have tried to date. There was a problem with counterfeit Ramcats...there is a post on their website.....but I've not had any issues. I'd say shoot them and see how they fly.

Be aware that they do not fit into many quivers.

I've found that for the 125gr RamCats to clear the stirrup the blades need to be oriented at 12-5-7.

Are you using the stock stirrup?

I haven't shot them with my micro suppressor yet, I loved them out of my matrix 380, they flew like field points past 60 yds..
In 2015 I shot a bear at 33 yds, deer at 38 yds and a wild turkey at 34 yds. Phenomenal blood trail and complete pass through on all 3.
They won't clear the dipped stirrup unless set near 7-12-5 as long as not at 6 o clock. I'm using a G5 head lock quiver. I ll try them out when the weather warms up, March has been to cold in northeastern ontario -30*C windchill all this week.

I'm referring to the stock stirrup. I have mine sprayed with the Rhinoliner. I tried heating the opening of the Dr Stirrup stirrup and even at beyond a 2" opening the blades made contact making them unusable with the Dr Stirrup system. I attempted using the RamCats on my November hog hunt but the tip of one blade was bent from contacting the quiver hood so I wasn't able to try it.

I had no issues using a stock stirrup on my matrix 380 and ramcat blades at 6 o clock but blades were very close to hitting the stirrup.

125gr Ramcat blades clear my stock Micro 335 stirrup in any orientation...but it is close. They also fit in my stock Excalibur quiver, but you have to pay attention in and out.

Just got my Bulldog 380, seems as if the 18" arrow has the broadhead sitting deep in the riser. Will the 125 Ramcat blades clear the sides? Anyone have pics in the cocked position? Thanks

It's almost like a 19" arrow would be a better fit
