Easy cocking Exocet
I shot a decent (150#) boar with the new Exocet this morning about 3 miles back in the swamp.
He was heading to me after I called him in and just slightly quartering. I tried to slip it in behind the shoulder but the bolt skidded on a few ribs before going on through and lodging in the opposite hindquarter. I thought the shot was good & expected to find him dead in about 50 yds.
This is the first time I ever had one lay on his backtrail (after being shot) and attack. I was following the wide blood trail and could see it well ahead when the rascal came at me from behind a tree where he'd circled back around to wait for me about 6' from the trail. Barely grazed my lower leg with 3" cutters and was coming back with his teeth snapping for another go. I cocked & loaded the bow & shot him again through the shoulders at about 12 inches (that anchored him). I have always used a cocking rope/pulley to cock this XBow, because the couple times I hand cocked it, it caused considerable strain. This time was different. They hand cock quite easily under just the right circumstances
I've hunted pigs for 40 some years and killed hundreds of them, but never had one do that before. Live & learn (then you die & forget it all).

I actually had just time to shove at his nose with the stirrup on the front of the bow or the first charge might have been very serious instead of band-aid & torn camo. I can tell you I won't need the Ex-Lax this weekRed Label wrote:that must have been a ride....
I bet you could have cocked an Exomax under those conditions!
(note to self...4-5/8" Blackhawk in .41 Magnum on Christmas wishlist )
