Just getting started.....Can someone suggest a good starter?

Im thinking of getting into the crossbow hunting game. Can anyone suggest a good starter crossbow for someone who has no experience with crossbow hunting. I'm looking at either Excaliber or Ten Point.

Also, how much should i invest in my first crossbow.

Thank you.

I purchased a Horton Explorer TR175 package. AS I was sighting it in, it would not hold a zero. I would get a good grouping, but then the next shot would miss 1"-2" to the right. I called Horton, and they had me send back the Red Dot Scope. I called about it yesterday and they advised me of a recall on the limb portion of the unit. Anyways to make a long story short, I got a full refund from the retailer and bought a Excalibur Exomax today! Spend the extra money, it will save you a lot of hassle down the road.....

Tenpoints are decent bows, however, in my opinion, Excalibur bows are second to none. One can't get a better bow at twice the price, which with Tenpoint, that's what it would almost cost.

Just for your knowledge file, I watched a kid that just bought a new Barnett dry fire it on the range. He spent the next few minutes wondering why his shiney new bow just blew up and sent parts flying all the way to the target. Looked like anice bow with its wheels and all that. If you have a price limit that allows for any of the Excalibur bows, I would suggest buying one. They are simple, strong and accurate. Kids need traning wheels, crossbows don't

I ran into a fellow last weekend while hunting, he was using an Excalibur Exocet. I said, "I see I'm not the only one with an Excalibur." He said "Yeah, all four of us have them." He was hunting with three others. I would say that speaks volumes.
