Shoot Stick

Post by prossbow »

Looking for opinions/recommendations on a shooting stick. I'd like to pick up something good but economical. Must be packable and adjustable.

I'll be using it with my new suppressor that has the widened finger protectors on the forend.

Thank you,

The Primos name is on a good one. Opinions may vary, I've found a shooting stick to be more of a hinder then an asset hunting from a tree stand. Ground blind or on the ground they seem to be more user friendly...

I always carried a Primos with me. Light and small. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. If you are in a treestand/ladderstand, tie para-cord to it and to the tree. Good luck.

I use a Stoney Point Monopod.

It works well as a walking stick on the way in and then I use it as a support for my crossbow when hunting.

I have a Stoney Point bipod that I use when I am sitting and cut myself a walking stick with a shallow fork to rest my crossbow or rifle in when I stillhunt. The walking stick is cut so the rest is about eyelevel or a little higher so I can set it on an angle toward me and lean into it. I leave these in various places that I hunt so there is always one near where I park.

If you are hunting from a ground blind then check out the Caldwell DeadShot Field Pod. I've used one for a couple years now and absolutely love it. I believe it is the closest thing you will find that is as solid as a shooting bench. Light, pack-able, and very user friendly. My nine year old grandson will be hunting with me this year and he does great shooting with it.

Good Luck,
Kevin

Make your own, go to you tube and search shooting sticks, easy and less than 5 bucks, work every bit as good as store bought. Just like they use inafrica.

I have one of these, and a cut down dowel rod that is just right height from my chair in my blind pack. I have one I carry when while still hunting with the gun as well. They work really great!

I looked online and found the strongest telescoping selfie-stick I could.
Then countersunk the correct threaded insert into the fore end of the stock, just ahead of the balance point with the bow cocked and ready to shoot.

It folds back and nestles just beside the trigger guard for carry.
