DIY hard case for my ExoMatrix

Post by Ekkie »

I've been griping for years about the lack of a decent case for Excalibur crossbows. The cases that do exist are just too bulky imo (especially since I often travel via motorcycle). So a few days ago I got off my tuchus and started making one. Finished today. Total cost was somewhere around the $50 mark. Used 5mm underlayment and a couple of 8' 1x4s, Gorilla glued and screwed with deck screws. I'm no woodworker and this has a few warts, but overall I'm happy with the result. The last picture below was before things were finished... I was just doing a test fit and it'll give you an idea of how the bow will sit inside the case. I did glue some real thin foam in there (the grey on the inside), but for most of the padding I plan on packing a few articles of hunting clothing around the bow to keep it snug.

Can't wait to get out there! I should be in the woods (in northern MN) in 6 days!

Best of luck all,
~E
