Carl: I have decided to take both. The ported 30-378, actually kicks less than my 7-Mag with 160 grain bullets. The 180 grain A-frame bullet hits 3 inches high at 100 yards, 5 inches high at 200 yards ( I grouped those shots) ,supposedly it is on at 300 and 7 inches low at 400 yards. Ballistically, it has the same energy at 400 yards as the 30-06 has at the muzzle. Bullets cost 90 Dollars A. a box! Ear protection is required! Striper

Stump: this is a Weatherby rifle and round. You can get the ballistic data off the Weatherby website. The rifle belongs to a friend of mine, and was originally a wildcat round that Weatherby picked up after ported barrels and better recoil pads became popular. No kidding, it kicks less than my 7 Mag loaded with 160 grain bullets! Striper
