Success on opening weekend hunt three years in a row!

Post by striper »

Just returned from opening weekend hunt in Alabama. For the last 3 years since I bought my Exocet, I have taken a deer the first 2 days of season! his time it was a nice fat 90 pound doe that I took from a ground blind at 20 yards. The bolt might have gone into orbit since I could never find it. It was a double lung shot, but the doe managed to go 100 yards before dropping.
The mosqiitoes were awful. I wouldn't have been able to stay on stand if I hadn't had one of the moquito proof (almost) coats. Striper

My wife gave me one room in our house to use as a game room. Between fish, turkeys, ducks, and deer I have very little space left to hang trophies. Unless bambi's daddy comes along, I will try to pare down Alabama's 7:1 doe to buck ratio. There are plenty of elderly people in Chilton County who are always asking for venison.
Also, with an elk trip coming up in Colorado in a few weeks, I really have to be careful about collecting more antlers. Striper

Striper, congratulations on the doe.

I have made it my mission to pare down the ratio here too.
