Camera on Matrix

Post by wvnitroman »

I would like to install some type of ". GoPro" camera on my Matrix 355 so I can film my grandkids shooting deer. :D Has anyone done this and if so could you post some pictures?

Thanks and God Bless,
Kevin

There was a fellow at the Great Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, Pa selling a mount that clamped around the forward end of your scope that would accept a go-pro camera. It seened like a solid mount. Sorry, I don't recall what company he was with but at least you might be able to search the internet for scope mounts for cameras. Good luck with your search.

After watching the slow no videos, I'd be thinking that a riser mount would make for better quality video over a scope mount. After all, the shot is what you're filming for.

Is this "Go Pro" or any POV camera?

I've mounted an ION Action cam to my Xbow using 30mm rings and a tripod attachment plate..

Here is how it looks mounted to a scope.......

Gopro makes a mount that goes on a scope I have used it on gun scopes . When I bought the gopro it came with it came in two with different size clamps along with a bunch of other mounting hardware .

Go Pro makes a bow/gun/bike mount specifically for this purpose. You can put it on the scope tube. It is basically a waterproof case with a mounting adapter and hardware. You can put different cameras in it, not just Go Pro brand.

I've found the issue with the go pro cams is that the target you're filming at 20yards away looks like it's 50yards away. I'd search for options like the camera shown above on the vortex. Also, I watched some video footage by Anthony (Amythntr) while at Boofest and was impressed by the quality of the footage. I was surprised because I recall it was very inexpensive.

Kevin,
I have a Matrix 355, and you can mount a camera easy, and not on the scope.

Most of these little cameras have a wide view and stuff looks far. You use editing software to zoom, crop and create the video so it is zoomed as much as you want.

This camera has zoom already up to 10X, but need to be careful how much you use of the zoom, I go about 5X, action camera AEE S70.
