Source for cocking aid rope?

Post by Tangle Eye »

I need to repurpose one of my cocking aids for a different box (longer) so I need to replace the rope. But I’m having trouble finding strong, diamond braid rope. The local hardware stores here don’t have anything like that and I even struck out at Amazon. So - where can I get the same or similar rope used in cocking aids?

Granted - when I find it, it might be less expensive just to buy another rope cocker.

DutchWare in PA sells Amsteel rope for a good price. I use 1/8" (2500 Lb).

I'm in Jackson, TN.

I'm sure the Amsteel would do the job but I'm concerned about it only 1/8 inch. I was hoping to find something of a similar size to the original rope - about 1/4 inch I think.

I just decided to get a whole new cocker. Cheaper than buying rope actually.

Amsteel is wicked strong. You could tow your car with it. Very abrasion resistant too. I have a spare length in my backpack. Doubt I'll ever use it though.

Sure is, ive hung many moose with my 1/4" amsteel winch rope.
I use 3/16 orange on all my bows. 1/8 would be hard to keep it from pulling through the handle. It doesnt really "sinch up" like normal rope
