Best bolt for Exocet?

Post by Jason »

Hi guys.

Am purchasing a new Exocet soon with with Vari-Zone scope package and it comes with:

:: 6 - Arrows 22 Series Carbon w/Vanes & 100 gr. Target Points
:: Wasp - 3-Blade 100 gr. Broadheads

My question for you is - What is the best combination of arrow and broadhead to achieve the best speed and accuracy out of the Exocet? May be opening up a can of worms here, but would like to come up with the best combination.

Thanks all :wink: ,

Jason just whats coming with the kit....

Later you can speed it up a little more with feathers in places of vanes, but only a few fps.

Your good to go.

And then u can ask bj @

I agree with bstout, what will come with your kit is a good combo...as I stated you could gain a few fps with feathers over vanes, however I have been told that Bill T. states with the Excalibur Carbon Lazer II's that vanes work best.

Another good broad head is the Montec G5 fixed 3 blade.... :wink:

lets see-I have been shooting xbows for over three decades, I have won a dozen indoor target xbow titles and have shot more than a few deer and the best bolt I have ever used for an excalibur is the laser II. Feathers for indoor target, vanes for 3D and hunting. with the heavy brass insert, you can really good flight with a 100 grain BH-I use grim reapers or wasp sst jackhammers. the big doe I shot friday was with a jackhammer-big entry hole, bigger exist hole. any of the excaliburs shoot hard enough for the mechanicals to work properly

Jason,
I agree with vanes for hunting. Bad wether and rough field conditions have inflicted injuries on the feathers. Vanes can take it. One thing is being left out in the information you are getting on arrows. Vane color is really important. I use the two orange one yellow combo and they mark my hit really well. The point of impact will tells me alot aobut how long to wait to start tracking. I want the bright color to mark the hit really clearly. I just wait for the right time to squeeze and let the Excalibur do the rest.

Wondering what everyone thinks about vane color. Anyone care to offer their opinion as to the best colors for hunting in the Fall.

I drive BJ nuts with my colour requests...he never has HOT PINK.
Now don't get the wrong idea, it's just that I think bright, unnatural colours are best. You can get yellow, orange, green, etc., but all those colours occur naturally in the fall woods. I want pink but he keeps telling me that they aren't avalable in duravanes....so I settle on yellow and orange.

Thats what I was thinking. I saw a set if Diggers carbons that were purple and orange. Looked like they would stick out real well. Hot Pink might be the best, but I don't know if I could sit there looking at that so early in the morning. The arrows that came with my Exocet are Brown and white. Poor color choice for hunting Whitetails.

All too their own...But I go with all white or all yellow in the FEATHERS..see the blood real good on them as far as damage go's mine has been what I would call low.

I am partial to orange and yellow myself for deer but darker natural colours for turkey.

I think for target practice thats a No :!: No :!: on the slicktricks inless of course you have a broadhead target. Sounds like a perfect set up for HUNTING. 100 grain field tips for the practice...Of course you should shoot a SlickTrick to make sure it is hitting where it should, close or same as field tip. :wink:

Gary,

People say that feathers fly faster and are more accurate, but it appears that the 22 carbons with vanes fly faster thru the Exocet.. Whatta ya think
