It finally happened.
On Teusday evening I was out looking for the Mighty Illusive Buck!
I was sitting in this virtually perfect, natural blind, I had discovered that covered an area where a big Buck had been coming to make his scrape!
This spot was perfect, it was twenty-five yards away from his scrape and the cover was good. I could sit comfortably, I had a great view, and clear shooting!
Two big does came down the trail, my heart was pounding like crazy!
I knew I had to be calm and wait for the bruiser to come out. I couldn't help but think of what a perfect afternoon it was. As I waited, all of the potential possibilities were running through my mind!
All of a sudden something caught my eye, Oh my God! The bruiser was on his way! He was kind of standing at the edge of the ravine, surveying his kingdom! Slowly, ever so slowly he began to emerge from the bush and walk towards his scrape.
He was a beautifull ten point!
I could hardly stand the tension as he looked around and sniffed the air before he started pawing his mark!
I slowly and carefully lined him up just as he reaching to mark an overhanging branch and revealing a perfect double lung shot!
All the stuff was going through my mind, am I clear of branches, does he see me, is it twenty-five yards?
Yep, we are good to go!
Just pullll the triiiggger
That's when it happened,
I felt something hit me hard in the side and jumped back to reality as I realized my 5 year old was waking me up from a nap, to eat supper!
Damn, another one got away!
Enjoy the Harvest!

Don't be too hard on your son. He probably knows your limitations more than you.
