Very SadNews

Post by UPSMAN »

As most of you know, there was a charity fundraiser on this forum for my grandson, Greyson. You also know that I drew the winning ticket at Boofest 2019. The winner was, Don Brown, (PublicLandHunter1) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I called Don to inform him of his win and to thank him for supporting my grandson. He was very excited to win the bow. He was also very interested to know about Greyson’s condition. We had a very nice chat.

One day last week I sent Don a text message to be sure that Boo and Danny Miller had sent him his prize. I didn’t get a response and figured that he was just busy with life and work. Today, as I was preparing to leave home for work at 2:30 a. m. I had a text message on my phone from Don’s wife. This is what it said. “ Hi, Dennis, this is Don’s wife. Yes ,he did receive the crossbow and he was very excited to get it. Unfortunately, Don suffered a heart attack last week and was rushed to the hospital in St Louis. There was nothing that the doctors could do for him. After several days on life support I granted Don his wishes and had the machine turned off. Don was an organ donor and wanted his organs donated to help others.”

I want all of you to know that I’m crying uncontrollably while typing this. I can’t even begin to express my feelings about this. Don Brown was only 45 years old. He was also a nurse and dedicated his life to helping others. I can tell all of you that I will never look at my grandson again without thinking of Don Brown. I will think of him often, as I sit with my Excalibur in a tree stand. I ask each of you to say a prayer for Don’s family.
