If your shot angles will not be steep, then the 1.75" Spitfire Maxx is good. I prefer the 2" cut on the Spitfire XXX or Rocket Hammerhead even more. I band the spitfires for added insurance and always double band the Hammerheads.

My overall favorite expandable is the Rocket Sidewinder. Its only 1.5" cut, but the longer tip all but guarantees it will not deflect on high angle shots.

If your shots will not be at high angles, its hard to beat a 3-blade 2" cut for putting them down quickly. Good luck!

Good old tried and true regular 1.5 inch spitfires. I’ve tried many different broadheads...fixed and mechanicals over the years and keep coming back to them.
They fly to within a half inch of my field tips no matter which bow I’m using and the blood trails are great. 8)

Another vote for the Trophy Ridge/Rocket mechanicals. I use the Hammerheads which have a 2" cut for when I have wide open shooting lanes. I use the Carbon Express Crosscuts (fixed) if there's a chance of shooting through leaves.

I like the 100 gr 1 3/4 inch NAP Spitfires and Wasp Jak- Hammer mechanicals.
shoot like field points out of my 380 Matrix and blow big holes completely
thru any deer regardless of size. I also use a dental band on my Spitfires and just
for insurance. Works perfect.

How far do your deer typically run now? I would not expect an expandable like you are talking about to do anything to blood trail length. Put it through both lungs (with about anything) and it should not go far. 50 to 70 yds maybe. If you are hunting froma tree, make real sure to get 2 lungs and not 1. That's when they run far.
X2 on this advice. I always try to aim for my exit wound.

For what it's worth, I've been using Rage broadheads with pretty good luck, though I'm thinking of "playing the field".

Rocket Steelhead or Nap Shockwave for 300fps bows and down, Rocket Sidewinder or Nap Spitfire(add rubber band) for everything above...
Fly exactly like my field points beyond 50 yds as long as you orient them to spin true.
If open to fixed blade, the Ramcats also fly to the same POI and work beautiful. Only downside is having exposed blades and you have to be careful aligning them to fit in quiver so you don't bend them or cut yourself..

This is the second big Doe(160# and took Saturday)my 13 year old son has taken with the Ramcats and his Vixen. 35 yd shot as deer was turning. blew through shoulder blade, bent blade when it hit back bone, 1 lung, guts, and then embedded in the inside of the pelvis about an inch deep. The blade that was bent was only slightly arc'd. She ran about 75yds and fell. Blood trail was pretty decent considering where the entrance was..
Last season he took another with a direct shoulder hit. Decided to to come back in eve to be safe. Came back in morning and deer was totally eaten by coyotes 10 feet inside woods, but the BH did the job, we just made a bad gamble.

Shooting 422gr arrow at 275fps.
