Grandson killed his 1st crossbow deer

Post by Hester0305 »

I hunted with my 10 year old grandson this morning on Youth Day here in NC, and the Lord has blessed us again, he scored on a nice doe with my Excalibur Matrix 380 and a NAP FOC 170 gr. broadhead. I told him that I would try and hunt with him for a couple of hours before we had to leave to go to his football game at 11:00 this morning. We had several does come in to feed at around 8:30 and he had to be patient before one offered him a good broadside shot. He made a great heart shot just like I've been practicing with him on. I was coaching him on making him a great shot as I watched the Luminock disappear in the sweet spot, the doe made a dash with her head down and I knew she was hit hard. The FOC is just a devastating broadhead, the doe made it about 60 yards with a blood trail all the way to her. My wife was videoing my grandson as we tracked the doe and she couldn't believe the blood trail. My grandson was one happy 10 year old when he looked up and saw her, he went running to her and was pumped up. I'm so proud of my grandson's and very lucky getting to experience the hunts with my grandsons and teach them all the things my Grandpaw taught me. I took my grandson's doe to the processor and just made it back just in time to take him to the football game which they Won lol. Now it's time to get ready to take one of my other grandson's on an evening hunt with the 6.5 Creedmoor and see if he can take one at the food plots.

Way to go Grandpa!! My granddaughter who's now 17 started hunting 4 years ago. She's taken 2 does and a nice buck!
Teach them right, and teach them early. They are our future!

Congrats to your grandson! Listen to your Grandpa! One day you'll look back and it will be one of the fondest memories you will have.
