Longevity of crossbow strings

Post by James McLaughlin »

I have had my Excalibur crossbow for going on 3 years. I haven't shot it a whole bunch because of different reasons. However, it has the same string on it for most of those 3 years. Not the factory string but I bought from the online store that I see mentioned on this site quite often. I have never unstrung the string. My question is should I replace it before using it this year. The bow is a 330 matrix. Thanks.
James.

If you have the brace height set right, and the center serving is good, wax just the string, not the serving. It should be fine. If it’s all dried out, replace it.

If it is not broke, do not try to fix it.

Should be good if you haven't shot it. A sign of a string going south is an accelerated brace height change

Boo is absolutely correct!!

Keep an eye on the brace height. You'll notice it quickly!
