Vortex or Not??

Post by AJ01 »

I've got a hunting buddy who wants to get into crossbow hunting. He's shot mine on several occasions, but right now doesn't want to spend the bigger bucks to buy a high end bow. :eusa-naughty:
He's found an older Vortex with Shadow Zone scope for sale for around $350 locally. From the pics, it looks to be in pretty good shape. It has the S5 string bumpers installed.
Value, or should he look at something else? I thought for a first time crossbow hunter, this would be a pretty good for him to cut his teeth on!!

Thoughts???????

My buddy is just looking. He want's an Excal, but he's too tight to pay!! And he's never had a bow before. I thought the old Vortex would be a good starter!! Perhaps?

I'd take a Vortex over a Vixen any day. Have you looked at this?

I believe that the Vortex is right up there with the Equinox and both are excellent model CBs, accurate and very rugged. This is mine with a Boo string.

Love the scope and tactical scope mounts deer stalker...my favorite. I love the bolt and crossbones. l'm working on a nice mint vortex now. TT trigger with lots of goodies I'm gonna hunt wit it this season.
Its going to get a hha tetra when l come back from vacation
That is a bargain AJ in my opinion l paid 300 for mine its literally like new.
People might think I'm crazy but if both were brand new l would choose an exo over any newer model including the axe or micro.
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs, leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

AJ, I don't know how much you know about the Paradox, but it isn't your ordinary compound crossbow. Call Danny Miller when he gets back on his vacation on Monday and ask what he thinks of the bow and the price.
