Need new string ???

Post by Tekhanto »

On my Axiom did a stupid dry fire !! It blew string off bow, put new string on and all is good. Should I toss old string or do you think it would work as backup since it got bucked off ??

Thanks

Can’t count the the number of times I reinstalled my string on my 200 lb bows but they were all Flemish. Endless loop strings aren’t so friendly to dry fires. Keep an eye on brace height adjustments. More frequent or increasing frequency of adjustments is a sign of imminent string failure and the string should be replaced.

I wish I could have the hours back that I spent looking for a string and the arrow that was never loaded.

Do yourself a favor and order a custom Flemish string from www.boocustomstrings.com. The best Flemish string ever made! They are the only strings that I have on my recurve crossbows! Good luck!

If it looks OK, put it on, set brace height, and let er rip! Like Boo said, we have all done it, and spent a bunch of time looking for the dang thing.  , sounds like you might want to have a good spare on hand too.

When I loose an arrow I get out the old trusty metal detector. It has helped a lot in finding them

Your string should be fine. I dry fired my 1st Vortex twice and luckily it didn't hurt my string or the crossbow. Both times I was preoccupied trying to get speed results from my chrono instead of paying attention to what I was doing. I would get a Flemish string for it if you don't have one.

I taught i read somewhere on this forum that if you order a boo custom string you probably won't get until next year because his strings are in high demand
