Never happen to me

Post by Prmtvbowman22 »

My buddy and I went out to trim shooting lanes Sunday finished 3 stands and I climbed the 4th after directing the trimming I stood to get down. The next thing I knew I was riding in an ambulance after falling 22feet. Strap broke and stand dropped like a trap door. Cracked ribs 3broken vertebrae and a black eye. If I heal enough to walk I guess I'll need to buy a charger crank and try to hunt. No fool like an old fool.

Glad you're still with us! I have had my share of adventures with stands, but not like that, hope you heal up soon, and you get to hunt a bit.

Ouch! As bad as it sounds, you're lucky it wasn't worse. Hopefully you get to feeling better soon. Deer hunting can wait.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you heal fast.
Buy some lifelines 3 of them are around $100 which is cheaper than
medical bills. I won't go up a tree without them and lately I've
been ground hunting and liking it.

Prayers your way for a speedy recovery !

What type of stand was it , I'm guessing a climber.

We double check all the attachment straps on our ladderstands. 1 this yr. had a ripped area where those teeth hold the tightening. We replaced it. I don't feel safe in straps that are 3 to 4 yrs old or show signs of wear !

That's scary, especially falling from a 22' stand, be glad you're still around.
Hopefully you can modify your hunting methods like you mentioned, and be healed up enough to get out, good luck on both the recovery and the hunting!

I am sorry to hear of your sudden ride to the bottom floor. I know what the broken body in pain is about, I pray you fully recover quickly. I do not make or sit in any wooden stands. I even traded all of my lock on stands. I don't trust straps anymore either.
