An animal is albino if it is absent a body pigment and is solid white with pink eyes, nose and hooves. If any part of the deer is not white, it is considered piebald.

Law says albino deer are illegal to shoot. According to the Wisconsin DNR, it is illegal to shoot an “all-white deer which is entirely white other than the hooves, tarsal glands, head and parts of the head.” If any other part of the deer is not white, it is legal to harvest.

I would only shoot one if I became allergic to red meat.
Probably tastes like chicken.

Don't know why some are saying pass. Perfectly legal in my state and the vast majority of others. Only thing I would pass would be a bolt through both lungs.

I'm guessing the only place an albino buck would get that big is somewhere it is illegal to shoot. Most places, that's a nice legal buck.

Not only legal in a lot of States but it is actually not a deer I would want breeding with the recessive genes in my herd.

I'm surprised he got that big. AT least 3 yrs old. Albinism is a genetic defect and the deer usually have other health issues. Piebalds as well - genetic defect.

To me the melanistic deer is way cooler looking.

For me, I don't need to take it. I would never have the space for a full body mount, nor would I really want one.
And I have little to zero knowledge of how any specific species genetics work, and don't feel I should have control of those situations.
To each their own, I wouldn't be hurt to hear someone did shoot one, but I would not shoot one simply because it's different. I'm not much of a trophy hunter, I believe I learn more from the ones I don't shoot than the ones I do. :)
With that said, it wouldn't be worth the bad press and angy indigenous I'd have to deal with for the next 5 years.
