Confirmed reservation on tomorrow's first ferry - top deck so I can stay in the truck.

Madly hunting down & packing gear.
Medium cooler being packed with lings & halibut for my Partner's Family to enjoy.

He and them are pretty much anal about being careful due to the virus.
As are we.
No personal interactions beyond that.
Only stops will be for fuel (gloved & masked).

Headed out in minutes to pick up 2 whitetail tags.
Then off to shoot the bow to confirm it is still bang on.

Likely won't be ready to roll until after supper time methinks.

Might be a tad shorter than most if conditions don't improve!

Been a damn tough grind the past few days.
Seen a few whitetails, but everyone seems to have a bottle rocket shoved up it's butt!
Never seen them quite this flighty.
Makes for rather discouraging hunting.
It would appear that the tales of "immense pressure" this fall were real.

Highlight thus far was seeing a couple dozen elk in an area we have never known them to be.
Appears they are expanding their range out this way.

Had to turn back today. Ice pellets & freezing rain. Roads are curling rinks.
Damn.
Tough to get a break I'll tell you!

Just taking a brief break today, then right back at it.
Don't know for how long though if something doesn't change...

PS: Today's break actually turned out to be a good thing.
Went down fairly hard the other day, so checked the bow.
Yep - 4" right and 5" high at 40 yards. First time it has ever moved.
Corrected now.
Back at it in the am...

Well, Nog, maybe you are just sitting in a blind and there isn't much else to contemplate other than your navel. Still, it's a heck of a lot better than sitting in the house in an arm chair watching somebody else's hunting video.... or listening to the talking heads...or Boy Trudeau .

You are with friends (I think) and getting some fresh, clean, country air. The meat has to be just be a bonus, doesn't it? Good Luck. I'd like to read that you got your bonus!
