Cataracts

Post by GGC »

Been a long time since I've posted on the forum. Still check the site and just see what's going on.
For me, my eyesight has been sliding faster the last year or so. Surgery and new lens' are the solution.
One eye is done, my shooting eye. Wow just wow. I can see clearly again with just one done. Left eye will be done in a week.
Checked the scope, my four legged friends are in deep sheet.
If you are thinking about the surgery, just do it. Don't wait any longer.

Lol, I have terrible vision for my whole life. I am counting the days until I get cataracts, that's the only way for me to get the lenses replaced .

Glad to hear it's worked well for you👍

thats a bit of confidence builder for me. dr. told me about 2 years ago that i have them, just a matter of time for surgery although dr said it "was down the road". yearly checkups each fall will keep on the progression of them 80% of my vision is out of left eye so thats the one thats most important

God Bless, and an quick recovery! May the hands be guided by the skilled on Earth through the wisdom of the Lord. My aunt, has been dead for decades, she died of brain cancer in the late 70's. She was still a young woman when the doctors told her she would be dead in 6 months if they didn't remove her LAST eye. She had vision until she died 15 years after that diagnosis.
You'll be in my prayers!

I've been thinking about it for a while. My eyes are bad enough that I have no choice now but to use a higher end scope because of available light near the end of the day. My eye prescription is never perfect. I know the operation is really easy to get over but what stops me is that I do not need glasses to read. When that happens, I'll get my eyes done became ill need them post op.
Common improving your life!
Edit, don't you just live the way phone spell for you?
I meant to say congratulations on improving your life!

Boo, when I spoke to the surgeon he went through all the lens choices.
There are enough to cover anyone's needs. Then I explained I have several nurseries, a lot of damaged plant material, and I shoot a lot of deer on depredation permits ( I give most all of the venison away). He said I have just what you need. Done deal.
Just like yourself more money on scopes, but I was at the end of the line.
Glad I went for it.

I recently discovered that I can't use red dots. I have what is known as a Astigmatism. The red dot isn't a dot for me. It's a an annoying Starburst.

Oh well I have no issues using a scope as long as it has good glass! Lol

When it comes to cataracts and lenses replacement, there are choices. These replacement lenses are called intraocular lenses (IOL).
There are STANDARD LENSES, WAVEFRONT LENSES, TORIC (ASTIGMATISM CORRECTING) LENSES and MULTIFOCAL/ACCOMMODATING LENSES

As you can "see" there are many options to choose from. Of course, like every thing in life, they all have pros and cons. The way to make the best choice of which type would be best for you is to do some research. Ask your ophthalmologist, and check the information rich internet.

Here's a link that provides some useful information:
