The 340 really is the sweet spot for the micros I do believe. I don't think you could go wrong. My axe340 will be with me for a while I think.
That's why a 340 TD came home with me and sees the most tree stand time. I too believe 340 is the sweet spot for Micros. Though Boo has a point about the limbs on the 400 TD. They're the top of the food chain in my opinion. I'd love to see them on a Micro in the 340-350fps range. You can't go too much beyond that without starting to bring cranks into the conversation. And I prefer the crank to be an option, not a requirement. Put the 400 limbs on a 340-350fps range bow and you'd have a seriously rugged Micro platform. Given the limb thickness, you should be able to shave some draw length off of the package. I don't think you'd have something 308 Short length shooting 340fps, but it may come closer than you think. Hmm, a 340 Short anyone?

So have you put the 400 front end on the 340 yet? I know I got Boo to try it on his 360. But I don't remember if you did.

I built my dad a 340 Short...

Original Gen 2 (3?) riser from my 308 Short Banshee.
Camo limbs purchased off fb group.
Rail from Matrix 330 cut down to give same power stroke as a 340 micro.
Matrix Sapphire stock to give same LOP as a 308 Short.

Hence, 340 Short

I also picked up another Sapphire stock, my brother might take that to turn his Micro 355 into a 355 Short.

I think it would be a good bow. I'm not sure that 340 would be the idea speed but it would likely be popular at that speed. I'm not seeing much in the way of limb failures so it just might be a super reliable bow.

I had always figured the various TD front ends could stop. What was that specific end result?

Wow, I must have slept since that experiment. I had my perfect bow all along and didn't even realize it. For some reason, at that time the thought of leaving it that way never crossed my mind. Time to sling some arrows and jog my memory.

Now that's funny right there.

So if your 340TD with the 400TD front end on it is a 365, does that mean a 360TD with a 400TD front end on it will be around a 385?

When I think of "Short" named excal models I think short LOP. I just wish the Assassins weren't the only ones that had adjustable LOP. Or that a short LOP'd bulldog model would be released. Might just have to get my hands on a Stryker bulldog stock some day to put on my BD400. That would cut and plate a lot easier than the Bullpup ready-rest stock it came with.
