Just had a visit from the MNR
The 2 MNR empolyees are on a mission to find them. There is a possible sighting of a football less than a mile away from my house. Apparently they are considered established in Saskatchewan

Looking forward to it!! Lol
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Re: Just had a visit from the MNR
Saw one last year corner of Hwy12/48. There is already a documented sighting at the same intersection when I looked it up on the map.
Years ago, I can't remember the dates, but there were breeding farms in Pefferlaw for hunting. Until the ministry shut that down. So the farms all said eff that then, and opened the gates. That story was from a CO I respect. And when I called to report the hog, the lady on the phone said it was probably a "Pefferlaw hog". By other than that, and the fact that the farm existed, I don't know that story to be true or false.
But none the less, I was told to shoot on sight.

The biologist said and it makes sense, that hunting cannot get rid of established hogs but traps can. He said the "Pig Brig" was currently the best trap. He also said that Colorado got rid of their pigs by trapping. Interesting stuff!

Re: Just had a visit from the MNR
Crazy things are happening in my area in my lifetime.
Back in The 70s we didn't have a "huntable" deer population here so it was a hundred mile pilgrimage to grandma's house to hunt deer archery and gun.
In the late 80s and 90s and moreover now the deer are walking down the street and everywhere in my neighborhood but we didn't really have many turkeys......then the turkeys came lots of em but now I'm seeing a lot of foxes also and what seems like a turkey decline to go with it. ...many ups n downs some good some not.
I'm really afraid of these deer diseases they are getting closer to my area every year!

Re: Just had a visit from the MNR
Most states have an unlimited season on wild pigs. Hopefully they don't become established as they are in Saskatchewan but, if they do, MNR will establish an unlimited season in Canada as well.
Are there any other predators/overpopulated species which have open season yearround in Canada?
