My Bear is home.

Post by janesy »

Last night I was able to pick up my Black Bear rug from the spring hunt. The Taxidermist I chose did everything in-house so there was no shipping or down time. Total turn around was 10 weeks. Jeff and Ryan at Brain's taxidermy in Orillia really took the time and heard me out on what I remembered about the bear alive and what I wanted it to be as a momento. I wanted to remember the Bear exactly the way it was that day and they did a perfect job. I've decided it'll be hung on the wall, just need to build the wall now.
Big thanks to Norm and Jeff for helping me and putting up with my anal attentiveness while skinning this guy out as the temps kept climbing that day. The prep paid off in spades fellas, much appreciated.

He said it laid out a couple inches short of 6' and dried down to 5'7". It probably written on the bill exactly, but I haven't even read it yet lol.

That's why it's going on the wall. Lays out on my Queens sized bed with a paw pretty much at each corner. Give or take a bit

That's a real nice rug Chris. Looks really good

Jeff deserves the credit because he helped you most as I stayed in bed because I was hurting from from my brutal 7 day a week shift work schedule before bear camp and required some downtime.

I'll never forget how I felt ( thought you were Superman) seeing that bear in your back of your truck without our help.
Glad you didn't get a hernia !
