dryfire Assassin

Post by B-Logger »

Might be a dumb question but after a dry fire, how does one go about uncocking the bow?

Are you completely uncocked or resting on the ADF latches?
If on the ADF latches you can try to recock it, if it wall the way at rest, and nothing is damaged, make sure the latches are open to receive the string when you cock it.
You can do that by making sure the safety is off, and pull the trigger latches back with an Allen Wrench and pop the trigger to make sure it functions properly.

Good luck,
Dan

That is a no go as I can not get it back far enough to reset the trigger.

More ideas?

Well, sometimes it does pay to think. I just did as if I were uncocking after hunting and all is well. Senior moment?

Thank you.

if you have a bow stringer you can release the tension with that and your cocking aid

But if the string is already all the way back how would you use the stringer? But I'm okay now anyway, thank you.

Are you rope cocking it? If the string is resting on the ADF latches you can carefully try to pull the weight off as you uncock the bow while pressing the rear ADF lever that will hold those front latches up. You can maybe try to pull just the trigger to open the back latches if the string is resting on the ADF latches, make sure you point the bow in a safe direction!

Check your POI after a dry fire, you may have to re adjust.
The ADF attached to the trigger unit receive a significant amount of stress when dry fired thus resulting in a POI shift in most cases.

I thinks the ADF location in the Assassin is less affected than the regular ones that Norm is referring to... BUT probably a good thing to check anyway 👍
