Climbing treestand is another item that changed the game for me. Early on I was green as green could be, and took binos with me all the time. I often saw deer movements in other areas than where my stand was, and quickly learned that mobility was required. I bought my first climber in 1988, and didn't use a ladder stand again until a few years ago.

Face mask for sure, but as someone else said, I can’t stand to have it up against my face. Too claustrophobic. What I do is buy a wide-brimmed hat, then sew camo mesh around the outside of the rim, so it’s away from my face. Also leave the mesh long, so mosquitoes can’t fly up underneath it.

My major game changers have all been very specific to accessibility/adaptive modifications...My first Excal (Vortex), my first winch powered elevating stand, elevated enclosed box blind (mini crane to get me up in it), and now The Rig for getting to previously inaccessible spots while being nearly silent.

I do something similar when bear hunting in Ontario, but just put a bug net over my hat. Easy peasy

I've been hunting a long time and my biggest game changer is taking care of myself and adding physical activity to my routine during the off season.
Being in reasonable good physical shape helps define my success in the field.

I urge everyone to do their part taking care of themselves because the biggest gift you can give to yourself AND your family is to take care of yourself.

Loose a few pounds, go for a stroll often, and eat reasonably healthy when you can.
My 2 cents.

The biggest game changer for me of the last few years is using the On X Hunt app on my phone. For me it's been a paradigm shift on how I scout and hunt new properties.

It's been a huge game changer for me!
