6 more days

Post by UPSMAN »

It's almost time for my first hunting trip since retirement. I'm headed to Missouri to hopefully kill a P&Y buck. The outfitter has been sending me pictures for a month. I've got some pictures of several giants. Got my hopes up for one particular buck. He has a huge double main beam on the right side. I've waited a long time to shoot a deer with my crossbow. I've killed several hogs and numerous turkeys but have never seen a quality buck to shoot while bow hunting. I'm hoping this trip will be the one. I'll check back after the trip. Good luck to all you guys.

Wish you luck ....either way it's outta town and in the woods
If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed that's how l look at hunting and fishing anymore just because it never seems to play out the way you had it in your head.. its always different.
Arriving safely and leaving in one piece is also kinda good too.
Don't worry about success when it's time you will hopefully get your dream buck.
I shot my biggest buck 10 minutes in stand with only an hour to hunt after work dirty from work crappy day....lt wasn't like some of the perfect videos on YouTube....but l was really happy with the results lol.
Hope to see a picture of your big buck be safe.

Hi Dennis, a trip to Missouri seems like the perfect retirement gift the way I see it. I'm now in the same shoes after working mostly 7 days a week for most of my adult life.
Cheers Dennis and hello to Celia.

I smoked one of those very desirable FF OPUS X you gave me as a gift . It took some will power looking at it being lonely in my Humidor for a number of years. As promised, I saved it for the right day.

Good luck hunting and take care of yourself now that you have more time.

I don't know where you are headed to in Missouri but I'm glad you are coming next week and not this week. Southern MO is supposed to have highs in the 90s early this week and northern MO (where I hunt) will be in the mid to upper 80s. Next week looks cooler so you should be fine. I'm actually going to Florida for 3 days next week to attend a wedding. I'm also retired so I'll be hunting day or two later this week and when I get back from Florida.

Good luck, and I hope you have a great hunt!

I did see that it was going to be in the nineties this week. Man ,that's Florida temps. I'm headed to NW Missouri, almost on the Iowa border. Looks like temps will range from 50-75.

Good luck on your hunt. I'm sure you will have a great time time no matter what. I was looking for a good video showing peoper deer vitals for a young hunter I am working with this year. This one is excellent. Never too old to learn, I say...

Good luck on your hunt! NW Missouri could definitely yield a P&Y buck for you.

I’m leaving Wednesday for my place in NW Oklahoma to meet my youngest son for archery opener on Friday.

Good luck Dennis, looking like mid October for me based on weather.
