Help me create a bolt

Post by crossbownewb440 »

What's the heaviest weight configuration I can put on a Zombie Slayer? I'm considering ordering off of this site https://ontarioarcherysupply.ca/products/black-eagle-zombie-slayer-crossbow-bolts

My crossbow shoots 18" bolts, and the brass inserts that come with these bolts are weighted at 92 grains. Can I add more than one insert? Or should I order 110 grain inserts to put in the 18" bolt? (is that even possible?)

I would like my bolt to be at least 500 grains, perhaps a little bit more. I haven't yet made up my mind about which broadhead I will be utilizing, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to choose the Excalibur Trailblazer 150 grain mechanical. So I need a bolt that is at least 350 grains (or more) without the broadhead. What do I order?

Also. As an aside, why are the Excalibur PROFLIGHT bolts being sold for more than the BEZS? I know you all swear by the Zombie, but I can get a 6 pack of Zombie's for $70 whereas a 6 pack of PROFLIGHT's will run me almost $110

Get some Zombie Slayers, add Black Eagles rear aluminum nocks, 110 grain brass inserts in the front, and get 150 grain heads. That will get you around 498 total grains.

Check out the post Norms Custom arrow builds. Some good info there and some nice heavy arrows he built for a moose hunt.
Take care

BEA Zombie SLayer = 9.1GPI * 18" = 163.8gr
110gr brass insert
Lumenok = 28gr
Blazer vanes 3@6gr ea = 18 gr

Total Weight = 319.8

Get a 200gr broadhead, or add some screw in weights to the insert. I didn't see them specifically on the ZS page of accessories, but BEA sells them for other arrows/inserts. I think they will screw on but just be a bit under the ID of a ZS shaft.
