Numerous times (since 91) I cocked my Excal and threw it over my shoulder held by a sling, only to curse the safely for moving into the fire position during travels to my stand, often through standing corn or tight brush.

I found one duty Postal elastic around the stock handgrip then pulled over the safety solved any future safety concerns. Once in the stand I would release the elastic from the safety so I'm ready to Rock Doc

Very good discussion about accidental disengagement of the safety.

Good suggestion Normous.

I built two different versions to try on a Micro 355, the first was from 3/8" aluminum rod and used an M3 screw to hold it together. There is very little clearance between the stock and the safety lever when in the down position. It did tilt a bit when tightening up.

The next one that I tried was made from 3/8" plastic rod, the knurled part measured around .245" so I dropped down to a letter C drill bit that was running around .242" for the hole. I drilled it near the edge of the spacer to be able to rotate it and maintain clearance on the bottom. It is a slip fit onto the round parts coming off of the lever.

If you wanted to install them in a semi permanent fashion you could always add a drop of epoxy before pushing them home. It does not seem much easier to snag than the ADF extension, although if you are wandering through really brushy stuff then there is the possibility of getting it flipped to fire, so if you do decide to add an extension due to wanting to make it easier to use, then watch it for snagging accordingly.
That's kinda what I was thinking after looking at it the other night 👍

I like the plastic one the best it looks good.
Nice job on drilling it out, I would opt for hot melt to securer it easy to remove from parts if you decide it is a safety concern or the extension was damaged.

I used a clamping block with an ER32 collet to hold the plastic for drilling. Makes it really easy to hold round stuff for further work after I took it out of the lathe. 3D printing an extension that clips together would be a nice way to make them even lighter weight and I do like Norm's method of backup safety option.
