I got a doe this morning
Ya i got one, but the hard way, at about 90km/hr, my buddy and i are alright but my poor redneck cadillac is hurtin. At about 4:40 this morning we were heading out for a bow hunt and ten minutes from town this is what happened, doe came out of the ditch from nowhere, I had absolutley no time to brake, but did manage to swerve a bit.

Did you yell "yaaa hoo we got one"
Glad she didn't come through the windshield.
I was at one of the ministry yards yesterday where they dump the road kills. Some of the bucks have huge bodies with just regular size racks (and busted up legs). They leave them there for a while, most get eaten by coyotes and other scavengers. The others are plowed into the ground. Too bad they are wasted like that.

I've also heard of them pulling the deer aways from the highway for bears(and other scavengers) to feed on. It help's to prevent further collisions by removing the food source. But it is a waste to bury them.Partikle wrote:They leave them there for a while, most get eaten by coyotes and other scavengers. The others are plowed into the ground. Ranger66, glad you made it out OK. And I commend you for ending the deers suffering as well.
I have a question maybe you or others can answer. I have heard that if you hit a deer within 2kms of a "deer-crossing sign" insurance companies will not cover the damages. Is this true?
Yep timmy's was fine, no spillage, but wouldn't chance finishing it off with all the glass flyin around. Skinned out the deer a little while ago, looks like most of it is salvagable, just a bit damage to the backstrap on the impact side. Looks like more pepperettes for us. Maybe we'll get one or two more this week in the muzzy hunt.
Ouch!
I'll bet your Buddy is a certified "White Knuckle Flyer" now!
Glad you guys are o.k
A friend of mine hit a nice buck last week, according to him, we went to look for it and I could see tine marks in the gravel so it probably was a nice one, but all he ended up with was an expensive repair bill, at least you will get some pepperettes!
