Is certainly a solution but looks way too busy for my taste…it would help if he gutted the damned thing! I don’t understand why some people do not gut their kill right away.
Is there ANY good reason to leave the guts in?😖

I've never field dressed deer myself. Even in the hot weather down here. I do get gutted and skinned and put on ice in a timely manner though. I asked the people who taught me a while back why they don't field dress. One reason was they didn't want to spoil their hunting area and didn't want to attract coyotes to where they hunt. Guess it might make sense. Never heard any problems from people not being able locate their kill until the next day. As long as it cool weather the meat will be good.

Sometimes i let one lay while i wait on another to come in. I have many many times field dress soon as i get to the tick toter. Then get back in my stand n wait on yote. You don't dare leave a tick toter here over-night unless you want to feed the yotes. You can't spoil your area as the yotes will eat the gut pile in short order. I try to kill every yote i see even if they come by before a tick toter. Killing them don't bother the deer none

I don't gut deer, not even while cleaning. Skin, remove shoulders, back straps, debone hams, get tenderloins out, remove neck meat and brisket if not bloodshot. A matter of preference and tradition I suppose. Exception is to gut if it's going to be a while before cleaning. A nice bbq hog, now that's a different story.

Here its the coyotes and foxes at night and its the vultures/buzzards during the day. We gutted the doe my daughter took on opening day and were out of the woods before 10am. When we returned just before 3pm for the afternoon hunt, the gut pile was already gone. I took a buck that same afternoon. Gut piles are gone in hours around here.

I can't afford to buy a lot of stuff and where I am I can't haul a lot of stuff around. There is a lot of low mesquite and live oak and not much tall trees. I use a simple solution that is cheap. I have a heavy braided rope with a loop on one end and clip like a carabiner on the other. You put that around a decent size tree or post. Then I just put parachute cord around the deers neck or antlers and throw the other end over a branch. That end goes through the loop on the rope and to the front of the ATV. When I back up, the deer goes up. I try to get it where the deer is just high enough to get into the ATV. Sometimes I have to go higher due to the branch or the distance from the loop to the tree with the branch. Since its parachute cord, if the deer is high, I just cut the cord at the ATV. It's cheap and I'm just cutting off the knot at the ATV. The deer plops in. I'm not artist but you can see what I mean.....

My problem was I was alone, had an atv and was a long ride from any road and it was dark.
A truck hoist not an option, I had no trailer, cart or sled at hand , all good options at times.
I just needed to get the deer on the atv rack not easy buy my self, I did have cinch straps but never thought to employ them in the video manner.
All the ideas here are good stuff if you have them.
I was not as prepared as I should have been.

At my inlaws farm, we dug out a spot in the side of the bank, roll the deer right into the back. I have been taught to dress your deer as soon as possible to cool the cavity, and reduce bacteria. Two exceptions, if you're going to drag it through water, or muck, then dress on the other side. Several years back my B.I.L. shot a nice buck over the gut pile of a doe I killed that morning. :eusa-popcorn:

Dan ... there is a large area on the San Angelo ranch that gets a TON of deer remains dumped on it. It's about 300 yards from the main camp. Rancher doesn't want you "gutting deer" in the field due to Yotes eating his sheep!!
The boys hunt Yotes and other critters over that boneyard. The boys claim to have seen deer actually munching on the remains of thier fallen comrades!!
