If you have access to Netflix, take a look at Meateater, elk hunting in New Mexico.

What a seminar on bugling! It makes me wish I could hunt elk that way. I’ve tried bugling myself, but where I hunt, it works in the wrong way. All that I’ve lured in was other elk hunters. Some came on foot, others on wheels. So, I’ve limited myself to cow calling.

Well, Dan, my future stories may have to be drawn from old memories or outright fiction.

Where I hunt elk, I have to be drawn in order to get a licence. Getting drawn more frequently than every second year is a dim hope. I’m 77 now so realistically I won’t be able to get a licence till I’m 79.
