Adding weight to an arrow
Hi,
Tried finding an answer in previous posts, but didn't see any info. In the past I have used .243 bullets glued in behind the insert to add weight to regular diameter arrows and was wondering if anyone has tried .308 bullets in the Quill for added weight.

If your front inset is threaded, weight can easily be added using 8/32" thread pitch socket head screw which can be found from 15 to 50 grains.
Using a home made 25" T handle rod utilizing a 9/64" allen key welded to my T handle end I can easily manipulate my FOC with an add a weight of my choice to the rear of the front insert.
To do this remove the nock and backload and fasten through the nock end with long T handle.
Once satisfied the add on weight is correct use a smidge of glue to lock it in place. You don't want your add a weight coming loose in the arrow.
Socket head screws are cheap compared to bullets these days.

Re: Adding weight to an arrow
Thanks for another great option. I do have some brass weights in 25gr that screw into the back of the inserts already so I can go that route and some 6mm brass inserts(too small). I was just wondering about the bullets as I have moulds for various 30 cal bullets that I can produce heavy weights for free basically.

Example 20 gr and 40 gr socket screws in rear insert.

This works great, make sure you know the depth to set the screws, you can also glue in set screws before gluing the inserts in.

Re: Adding weight to an arrow
Dan is correct, a few people have used a long T handle to add weight but glued the add-a-weight TOO deep resulting in a "face smack " when your broadhead of field point does not seat all the way.

Dang, those won't fit inside my inner carbon tubes used to assemble double carbon wall crossbow arrows.
Good to have plan "B" or "C".

Norm,
Gold Tip has similar weights in different sizes. Might help

Re: Adding weight to an arrow
I seem to remember someone saying that some weights were stackable. In other words, the male threaded end would thread into the back of another weight.
