OT: Vimy Ridge

Post by IronNoggin »

Today, on its 105th anniversary, we honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Close to 7,000 Canadians were wounded and over 3,500 made the ultimate sacrifice. May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

If I ever manage a trip to Europe, that’s one place I will visit.

It helps to explain why Canadian troops were chosen for Dieppe, as hopeless and futile an exercise that it was.

It amazes me how we as a collective world forget the sacrifices that so many have made!!

I was surprised to learn that the US didn't win WWI single handed. Just kidding of course. Canadians fought bravely in both world wars. I visited Juno beach in France a few years ago and was reminded of the impressive contribution by Canadians on D-Day at that location. I salute the brave Canadians and all of the men and women who fight, or have fought, for the right causes!
