Tyler and I went out Saturday morning and after listening on the radio where the dog hunters would be, Tyler and I decided to get in our 2 man ladder stand in the middle of the club, putting us a good distance from where the dogs would be cast. I'm left handed, soTyler shoots anything that comes out on the left and I shoot to the right. Shortly after daylight we could barely hear the hounds when deer started sneaking across the 12 foot wide lane cut through some thick pines. After about 20 minutes and eight does crossing the path, a four pointer came out about 5yds to my right. Tyler and I looked at him for a second and Tyler whispered " sausage". I lowered my .270, put the crosshairs on his neck and pulled the trigger. The tracking job was short, 14 steps down and 5 to the right.
I think getting away from the crowd and catching the deer slipping away from the hounds just might be a new way of hunting for us. I bought 2 more 16' 2 man ladder stands for us for christmas.
Finally put one down
