O/T health and hunting

Post by Carnivorous »

Here is something we don't discuss much but I feel it's important.

I found myself to 30lbs overweight and low energy levels through the day. Sleep patterns were horrible as well.

Hunting can be a strenuous task at times and I felt I really needed to get fit again if I am to continue my hunting days well in to the future.

Here is my plan.

Cut out all Alcohol. This was tough but it's getting easier every day. :)

Walking the dog 45min/ day.

I am counting my calories to stay at or below 1500 calories per day.

Eating a balanced diet of natural foods only.

Strength training will start soon. :)

In one week I dropped 6lbs and feeling 100% better.

Starting weight 181lbs goal weight 150lbs.

Cheers,!

Can't speak to your other points but pushing 60 and decided to attempt a "Dry Summer" and based on how it goes maybe stop permanently. At 7+ weeks now since my last drink and so far so good.

Excellent job. For years i had a few drinks daily and some times more! Lol

Way more pros than cons staying alcohol free!

We'll get you back into shape so we Chris and I don't have to drag your giant fall bear out for you :D

Jeff, I admire your tenacity.
I hadn't been to the Dr. in years. Found out recently I have hypothyroidism. That equals one pill daily.

As we age, we need to pay more attention to our health.

But 150 pounds? :wtf:
I remember those days, barely. I think I was a Freshman in High School playing tailback!!

Good Luck!!

Most of my beer is now alcohol free and some of them are absolutely great! But at almost 70, shedding weight is difficult at best especially with all the pains that came with old age. But, my 3 idiot Mals keep me outside and Karin and I walk the perimeter of our property once a day. The 2 best things we did for our physical health is to have this home/farm and have 3 Malinois. Both keep us moving.

Havnt shot my 60 pound longbow in a year ...the other day l was really having issues getting to my anchor point without stressing.
I got it in the garage pulling it about 4 times a day.
I'm going to the gym regularly but the pull of the bow is very different from most exercises.
I've had water on the elbow that's where my discomfort is mainly coming from...aging "susks"
