I've been spending time enjoying the new found youth in my shoulder. I'm shooting a compound bow better now that I ever did in my younger years.

A couple weeks ago, this young doe was giving me fits by hanging out behind my tree for almost an hour.
Image
She eventually turned downhill and angled away from me. I didn't have a clear opportunity until she got to 33 yards. The TOTA found its mark and she didn't make it out of sight.

Four days later, three doe came by about five minutes after sunset. They passed at 32 yards. If you look close, you can see the lighted nock stuck in a tree behind where the deer was standing. If you look real close, you can see her belly. It's one of the white spots slightly uphill and just left of the second big oak to the left.

Packed for the largely downhill drag.

Yesterday was the last day of our archery season. I watched this buck slip through the woods and turn toward my son. He was at full draw for more than a minute before taking a bad shot. After tracking more than 200 yards, we jumped the buck so we backed out. We went back late in the afternoon and ended up finding him about 300y from the point of impact. He put a wide expandable through one lung. The deer lasted a while in that condition.

We're having one of our best years ever through this date. We've got a lot of muzzleloader and rifle season to go.

Congratulations Jeff! What's with the lack of pass through? Did you hit the off side shoulder joint? How far did it go?
Hard quartering away shot. Hit the opposite shoulder.

Broadhead used was the Swat titanium head.

He made it maybe 60 yards.

One heck of a blood trail.... 😀

150y is a long poke for a smoke pole, albeit smokeless in this case. Great shooting!

I honestly wish I liked deer meat more over the years l have had it every conceivable way other than the deer sticks and jerky and backstraps I don't care for it.
I'm on my fourth doe so far and l have emense respect for the whitetail deer .
I have 4 people that depend on me for deer meat every year and I'm am very happy that they use the animal and are grateful for the harvest.
In my eyes it will never be my favorite...a big beef ribeye steak...untill some one makes it taste that good l will keep being Santa to those who really enjoy it more than l.
