My Dad shot the wrong deer

Post by XB I GO »

We've been watching our deer as usual and we pick and name the one's we're gonna take. We have a wide 10-pt called Elliott, and 7+ year-old 8-point called Pops and a tall, heavy but narrow 6-pt we call Barry. Well my Dad went with my exchange Bro to get a Thanksgiving weekend deer. There were a lot of pictures of Elliott and some of Pops on our camera every day. Dad says they saw a small buck and then 5 does. Suddenly they see antlers coming. The little clearing is only about 3 deer wide, and the buck stepped into it with his head down following the does. The buck never fully stopped. My Dad swung through and let the M380 rip, sending an Innerlok 150 grain. They found the bolt with the Lumenok and it was bloody, but it was getting dark. They came home and said they think they shot Elliott but it was quick. Next morning they pick up blood and follow about 50-yards. Dad calls me. It's not Elliott. We've never seen this deer before. And he's not as big as Elliott or Pops. I told my Dad thanks for saving the good one's for me!
